So you were probably expecting this soon enough, right? I’m launching a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the Rhode Island premier of How To Be A Lesbian in 10 Days or Less and the fall mini-tour to Myrtle Beach, New York, and New Orleans. It would be awesome if you would check it out and contribute and it would be equally as awesome if you would reblog this post and share information...

Anne Bogart Always →
Reading a post by theatre director Anne Bogart - who you many or may not know I adore - that I missed earlier this summer. I am always inspired and challenged as an artist when I read her writing, even something small like a blog post, but today I feel a little bit gratified. Assured. Even, strangely enough, praised. I finished a three-week long process of directing high school (and a few middle...

– Ivan Coyote, “One of these things is not like the other,” Xtra West - an excellent response to a reader about community, commonality, storytelling, art and duty. (via rkb)

Lipstick
I have been writing wildly different drafts of this for a really long time; I don’t think this piece is for performance. That’s what I was initially gunning for, but this is something I feel pretty proud of tonight as a piece of writing for readers to experience instead and have decided I would like to share. It may be a little precious - in tone and content and then, in another...

Leigh. Late-Twenties, USA
Perusing a tumblr blog - because I certainly don’t have other things to work on this morning - and the blog’s owner described herself as, “Teenager, USA.” I like it. As if teenager is a place. Because it sort of is a place. Even if I have some sort of oh-my-god-I’ll-be-thirty-in-two-years kind of crisis now and again, I’m still really glad I don’t live in...

‎'The Vagina Go-To Girl'
thathollyhughes: Just got off the phone with a reporter from the Detroit Free Press, who said I was known as the “go to” girl for vaginas in SE Michigan. Should I change the name of this blog? ‎’The Vagina Go-To Girl’, catchy. It is my hope that I can be known for that very some expertise in Southern New England one day - or at least Rhode Island!

Thought I’d mention it. I briefly abandoned my attempt at becoming twitter-famous, but I’m refocusing. Really lining up my priorities, you know?

Whatever Makes Your Heart Quicken →
How about that word, “quicken.” It feels like it lives in another time or another place - that it’s a little bit magic. I am going to spend time this month moving toward things that make my heart quicken.

Le Sigh
I have been hiding inside yoga and rehearsal planning and ignoring the internet as it pertains to things both trivial and huge - I fully don’t understand the debt ceiling stuff but I know that I am disappointed and what I understand least of all is how we as people sometimes choose to interact with one another in the world. I promise I’m trying to stay engaged. That’s our...
